Replace the spreadsheet
Scheduling boards, job trackers, inventory and order systems — one proper app your whole team works from, instead of a file everyone is scared to break.
Batsford Systems builds custom software for small and mid-sized businesses — the internal tools, customer portals and field apps that off-the-shelf products never quite fit, without the agency price tag.

Most small businesses run on a patchwork — a spreadsheet, a whiteboard, a group chat and a subscription that does 60% of the job. We build the missing piece, shaped around how your team already works.
Scheduling boards, job trackers, inventory and order systems — one proper app your whole team works from, instead of a file everyone is scared to break.
A page where your customers see their orders, bookings or account and send requests — so the phone rings less and nobody has to ask "where's it at?"
Phone apps for drivers, technicians and crews — built to keep working with no signal and to send everything back to the office when it reconnects.
Turn carbon-copy forms into records, and have the monthly report or regulatory filing come straight out of the work you already log.
Stop re-keying the same details between systems. We connect what you have — or replace the parts that are holding you back.
Revenue, margins, jobs and workload in one read-only view for the owner — built from the records you already keep, not a monthly export.
No six-month disappearing act. You see working software within weeks and it grows release by release, with a say at every step.
A no-cost conversation, ideally on site. We learn how the job really flows today — the spreadsheet, the forms, the workarounds.
A plain-English write-up of what we'll build, split into phases, with a quote based on that scope before any work starts.
The most useful piece ships first. Your team uses it for real while the rest is built, and what they say shapes what comes next.
Training for your team, a proper handover, and support afterwards — so the software keeps up as the business changes.
We're a small, founder-led company with low overheads, so we can build for businesses that agencies quote out of reach. Every project is quoted on its scope — here's what that means in practice.
Our first build is Tally, made for Contento's container & recycling business in New York. It replaces a dispatch whiteboard, paper weigh tickets and year-end permit reports with one system. Tally is exclusive to Contento's, and it's here to show the kind of work we do for a client.
Dispatch board, container tracking, loads and weighing, and a billing worksheet — the core of the yard in one desktop app that updates itself.
Buying scrap over the scale with New York's seller-record rules built in, and both annual DEC permit filings generated from day-to-day records.
A driver app that works with no signal, a customer portal on the company's own domain, vehicle compliance tracking and an owner's analytics view — all on the same records.
The office and drivers learn Tally on their own workflows.
The yard moves off paper and onto Tally.
Sit with the people doing the work, learn how it really runs, and build the software they should have had all along.
Jordan Batsford started Batsford Systems at 22, after building Tally alongside a working container and recycling business — learning how a delivery sheet, a scale ticket and a permit report actually move through a yard.
The pattern turned out to be everywhere: a capable business held together by a whiteboard, a stack of forms and one person who knows how it really works. The options were a subscription that almost fits, or an agency quote priced for a company ten times the size.
Batsford Systems is the third option: custom software at a price that makes sense for a small business. Jordan still writes the code and still does the site visits.

Tell us what's slowing your team down. We'll talk it through at no cost, and if custom software is the right answer, you'll get a clear scope and price before anything is built.
